Ridgefield, CT – May 25, 2016: Fairfield County Bank has launched Apple PayTM.  Both consumer and commercial customers of Fairfield County Bank can now enroll their Fairfield County Bank VISA® Debit Cards into the Wallet of all Apple Pay enabled Apple® devices.

Using the latest technology, Apple Pay provides Fairfield County Bank customers a more convenient and secure way to pay.  With Near Field Communications, or NFC, customers simply “tap” their phones at the millions of participating in-store locations.  Additionally, designed using proven security standards set by the payments industry, Apple Pay uses “tokens” so customers’ card numbers are never shared with merchants – card numbers are not even stored on the device or on any Apple servers.  Further, using Touch IDTM or Passcode during each transaction provides added user authentication for even more security.

“For customers who are concerned about their card numbers or personal information being compromised by merchant database hacks or card skimming, the introduction of Apple Pay for Fairfield County Bank is a major step forward.  It’s not just cool, it’s more secure.” Said D. Stephen Wooters, EVP of Digital Banking & Payments at Fairfield County Bank.

Enrolling the Fairfield County Bank VISA Debit Card into Apple Pay is easy.  Once the account is authenticated, either from data matching between Apple and the Bank or a one-touch call to Fairfield County Bank, it is added to the Wallet and is ready to be used.  If the customer has more than one card in their Apple Wallet, with a few easy clicks within Settings/Wallet & Apple Pay they can set their Fairfield County Bank VISA Debit Card as their primary or default card.  For further security and peace of mind, transactions made with Apple Pay are clearly displayed in the Wallet.

Apple Pay is a compliment to Fairfield County Bank’s strong set of digital banking solutions.  Fairfield County Bank offers robust online banking, mobile banking, electronic bill pay, and other digital banking solutions.

“Our launch of Apple Pay is another demonstration of Fairfield County Bank’s commitment to providing customers the convenience and security they expect from us.  Through on-going developments like this our customers enjoy not only our great customer service, but also leading digital banking capabilities,” said Dan Berta, President of Fairfield County Bank.

Apple Pay is available on iPhone® 6, 6s, 6 Plus, and 6s Plus for in store and in app purchases.   Apple Watch® allows Apple Pay to be used paired with iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, and iPhone 5s. For in app purchases, customers can also use iPad® Air 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, and iPad Pro.
